The use of national costumes especially expanded in independent Latvia in the 1920s and 1930s. hand in hand with the rise of national self-confidence, as they were increasingly drawn to various public and private events. Ethnographic motifs soon became a well-known symbol of belonging to the Latvian people and the Latvian state, as well as a component of design in interior items, book design, textiles, toys.
